Mustang GT 4.6 into a Marquis

Asked by David Jan 23, 2016 at 02:58 AM about the 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 95 Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6 with a
blown motor I bought a 96 Mustang GT 4.6 engine
and transmission that I was going to put in my 78
Cobra but decided to go old school 351. Can I put
the 4.6 Mustang GT motor in the Marquis? Will it
bolt in straight in or will I have to change the intake,
etc. Will the Marquis ECM control the 4.6 out of the
Mustang?

Can I just buy a 96 ECM and will it plug into a 95 wiring harness?

Your crazy. They change from obd1 to obd2's in the early 90's. 95 and up are obd2. So glad you didn't put that crappy 4.6 in your antique mustang. And if they didn't so what still same motor just change your sensors out and put it in. Yes should drop right in and bolt right up. 33 years in mechanic experience and I own 2 96 mustangs and they are both obd2. My neighbor has a 95 mercury grand marquis and his is obd2. So don't know where other guy got his info but he is WRONG....

I’ve got a question. Here’s what I want to do. I’ve got a 1998 Lincoln town car with the dead cylinder. We put a bore scope in it and found a deep score on number 5 cylinder wall. We have no idea what she ingested but the score in the cylinder wall was deep enough to render that cylinder dad. We’re getting 85 psi on a cold motor with the compression gauge. OK. To the point. I have access to a 2007 ford 3V 4.6 L out of a totaled mustang. I want to stuff that thing in my Lincoln. That’s where you guys come in. I’m not super concerned about the logistics or money. I’m not saying I’m rich. I’m just saying I want to put that motor in my car and I don’t really care if it makes sense or not. Anyhow. I would really appreciate some feedback on how much of her PITA it could possibly be. I’ve got access to our professional auto shop so I’ve got tools, left, air etc. Thanks in advance to all you fellas with any information you might want to share with me. Thanks again guys.

I have a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 4.6l with 34k run beautiful, just starting out. I have an after market air filter bone. First question is how big of wheels look at Mustang gt or corba, Saleen 20 or 18 inches wheels to upgrade the look for performance purposes and I eventually want swap out the lower Intake to an 2006 Mustang gt whole entire top half of the engine. Is this possible. Trying to turn it into a poor man's Mercury marauder in the end.
