Go to a good auto parts tore, and ask if they will connect their OBD-iI to the car's central control and find what codes are activated. That SHOULD help you get started. If you cannot get there (as it won't come out of park), buy or rent an OBD-II and test at home. Best of luck!!!
Sorry Bill, but OBD-II wasn't on these cars until 1996
OOOOOPSSSS!!!!! MEA CULPA!!!
SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST BET IN MY LINE OF WORK IS TO CHECK AT HARNEST AND UP TO WERE IT STARTS SPLITING TO EACH PART YOU HAVE MANY PROBLEMS AND ITS ALL AT THE STEERING COLUMN SO IF NOT CHECK AFTER HARNEST ,MY NEXT BET WOULD BE GETTING A USED STEERING COLUMN THEN SEE FROM THERE SEND BACK IF ANY RESULT.
Your brake light switch is bad to get it out of park turn the ignition switch on (before any dash lights come on oil, temp, charge etc,) should be able to pull gearshift down to netreul then start it and will be able to put in drive (you will still be WITHOUT brake lights until you replace brake light switch Transmission shift interlock works through the brake light switch
check wiring connector to brake lite switch if connection is good replace brake lite switch some contortionism is required as switch is located on brake pedal lever do not let reuben anywhere near your car
below the steering wheel if you look under the steering column there should be a plug remove and insert screwdriver this will replease the shiftlock mechanism and allow you to shift into gear so you can drive to the nearest parts store
