The antifreeze leak in that location makes me think leaky heater hoses. Concerning the smell of gasoline, check for a rusty gas tank or lines while it's in for repair. That may be where the gas is going. Might just need a tune up.

thank you I did take it into a mechanic and they told me my water pump is leaking and six hundred and something dollars I walked out check the antifreeze yesterday morning only drove the car after the work about eight miles apart. Let it sit overnight and in the morning it was lower in antifreeze than it ever has been back to the mechanic Top Gear back off with antifreeze if it's still low in antifreeze today I'm taking it back to them and more than likely going to court thank you guys for your help what would us women do without you not to say there's not one of mechanics out there

Those older cars are so easy to work on. Call another shop for a quote over the phone. If they hear a man's voice, the price will be lower. A water pump replacement should be no more than $200, parts and labor. Thank you for the points and for the kind words. Have a nice day Sweetheart.

after him charging me $635 for a new water pump and replacing everything from the water pump back yesterday morning I woke up and before I even started it I was lower on antifreeze than I have ever been I drove it to him and he topped it back off and this morning it is low in antifreeze again I'm supposed to take it back to him Monday morning found out that Florida has a three strike law from me to make sure I have him document each time I bring the car back after that he has to give me my money back or I can offer him a chance to fix it. I thank you guys so much and you're right I should have had one of my brothers call even though they are 15 hours from me I'm sure they would have gotten a whole lot less price then I did I checked with one of the leading competitors for auto parts and which would have been $199 if I bought the parts he charged me $399 for parts and I know the auto shops get the parts cheaper then an individual person. I have a lot of checking to do I still smell gasoline he did not even check that I wanted him to do a compression test and he didn't do that

thank you for your help I'm still using about a half a cup of antifreeze a day. The place that charge me over $600 can't seem to figure out what's wrong. I guess I'm going to have to go to court. I explained to this man I have been to this place before and I told him I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on this car because it is so old. Definitely told me it was my water pump. I told him at 8 it was my water pump and you fixed it how come I'm still using the exact same amount of antifreeze every day and over $600 I would have never put that much money into it and still have the same problem. He did not listen to me when I took it in he totally went for the most expensive fix. Thank you for having this site it helps me to understand a little bit more.
