Corolla Microphone Not Working
Asked by Justin Sep 02, 2019 at 06:13 PM about the 2020 Toyota Corolla
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When I try to use my phone speaker to make a phone call/voice to
text/respond to Siri, it's not picking up any audio. However, when I actually
call out to Siri via CarPlay, it works. It seems to not function when it has to
do with calling/text.
I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla & I typically use Apple CarPlay, but it seems to
have the same issue when I use normal Bluetooth feature in my car.

On some model cars you have to press the speak button before you can give a command. Check the owners manual.
I have the same problem. I have a Corolla Se 2020 only had the car 2 months. When my phone is tethered to the car via USB or through Bluetooth it does not seem to detect any voice input when trying to call out or send a Voice to Text response. Toyota needs to fix these issues and roll out a software update soon. It was working fine when they set it up at the dealer then one day it stopped working.
It's a known problem. I have been doing the runaround with the dealership trying to get it fixed. It's the Entune update. Unplug your battery for 30 mins and it will work again and do not update your Entune or it will stop working again. Hopefully they will have a fix soon.

Hi Guru1JKLT, I am living in Italy and I had the same issue with my Corolla TS 2019 after upgrading the DCU. Today I tried to unplug the 12V battery of the car for almost one hour and after plugging it again I paired the phone again via bluetooth. It looks like it's working well for now. I hope it will last after 24 hours. What do you think about?

Hi GuruJKLT. After 2 days the voice commands for the phone are still working very well. I think your suggested workaround solved my problem too. Thanks a lot!
I had the same problem took it to the dealer. They unplugged the battery and Bluetooth mic was back on but now I get an annoying message every time I start my car to install the update...
No voice recognition in my new 2020 corolla. No help at my dealer. Have spent a lot of time with manuals and on-line tutorials. Some combination of phone settings, Apple CarPlay and Entune 3.0 Is preventing voice recognition.
My 2020 highlander not working either!! Gonna have to unplug battery and not upgrade iTunes!!
