Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2008 Lexus RX350, 149,000 Miles. Took to the garage & they said it was a
loose battery cable. Cleaned the battery posts & greased & recharged my
car battery. Car does not want to start on first attempt now. Sounds like a
car that does not want to start. Once started car runs fine. Seems to shut
off the auto air conditioning when this happens. Nothing else is shut off.
Just started doing this. Car started fine after garage but just does not have
that clean start sound. Now car is doing the not wanting to start. Garage
said battery is @ half it's life. I said I would replace & they said not
necessary.

Based on the information ... it's a shot in the dark but a good guess may be the fuel pump. If you look at the known data we can see a 7 year old car with 149,000 miles. Your mechanic should not have a problem putting a pressure test on the fuel line

Thanks! I will let you know. What about having the contacts in the starter solenoid examined & or maybe a new battery?
