why do the windows go down and the sunroof opens on my rx 350?

There's a program in the computer that is telling the car to do that. I don't remember what it's all about but it is something that you should bring to the attention of the dealer. They should know what to do.
Agree,with boholmark,take to a dealer to check this,or just maybe,the lexus,got hot and wanted some fresh air : )

It's actually a convenience factor built into the fob. It's so you can have the hot car "air out" in the heat before you arrive at the car door. Nice if you have black interior as it cools it off a bit before you sit in it. I am surprised that someone could do this unintentionally. I've had my Lexus for 13 years and never had this happen accidentally. Btw, I am a female and carry a purse. It requires a long press of the appropriate buttons on the key fob. To open all windows and sunroof, hold down the "Open/Unlock" button on the fob. To close all windows and sunroof, hold down the "Close/Lock" button of the fob.
Does anyone know how to disable this feature? DaybreakGuru, It’s in your purse as you say so you’re not dealing with the problem. But if it’s in the pocket of your jeans it’s easy to be leaning over, or working on something and trigger it. Happened again tonight and of course happens when it’s raining. 3 hours in the rain with the sunroof and all windows open. Nice.
What cause windows I to go down when i an the store.
All my windows went down all the way and sunroof open and just slightly just before of major rain storm coming out the next day with a drenched car. Unbelievable how could this happen on its own. My video from the front of the house shows that the windows were up Before night time.
I need to disable this feature...Windows and sunroof open automatically just when it rains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
try the manual... elaborates on how to programme these features
Similarly, the same thing has happened with my 2011 rx350. I randomly checked my car at 3am and my car was fine. Come a few hours later, leaving for work 7:30am..all of my windows are down. Luckily, it didn't rain. My keys were sitting inside my apartment with no way of accidentally being pressed. My doors were locked though. I would think that if it were somehow the fobs doing, that the doors would've been unlocked prior to me approaching my car. Came to this forum after having this problem and wanted to see if anyone experienced the same thing. Will be taking it to the dealer to see what might help. Here in Florida it rains quite a bit,, and I'd prefer to not have my car soaked one day simply because of a problem that randomly started happening.

@Ovichychy2: I got 2011 Rx350 and similar incident happened this morning. I thought somebody broke in but it looks like an issue with Lexus.
I've been having the same problem. When I get out of the car, all the windows roll down. I've isolated the problem to the key fob, has anyone else experienced this? If I just tap and/or reorient the key fob, the car will beep and all the windows go down. I'm assuming that I can just replace the key fob. Has anyone else experienced this? Any chance the battery just needs to be replaced?
I’ve had the same problem twice (2nd tonight) and the FOB was not touched.
“It’s a convenience feature”. Ha ha. One could not invent a less useful and most confusing and potentially damaging “convenience”. How on earth I can disable it?

Same thing happened with my 2007 Lexus ES 350, thankfully it was in the garage & I heard the sound as if I were pressing on the key fob to lock or unlock the car, I heard it several times, I went to the garage to check on it & found all windows & sunroof completely opened. I figured it must have been because I had my car key along with a few other keys on the same key ring in my jeans pocket, so I do know that it has something to do with the buttons on the key fob being pressed too long.
My 2015 RX350 just did this. It is the second time. All windows down and sunroof open and it is raining. The fob was sitting in my purse in the house and has not been moved. The inside of the car is very wet. Why is this happening? Would not be good if valuables were in the car parked some where.
This happened to me when it was storming. I woke up from a nap and heard a few beeps from my car and saw all the windows were down and it was dumping
Mine is 2010 Lexus rx350. I locked it l, went into apt and hung keys on hook. Bad thunderstorm here last night, this am all 4 windows down and Sun roof partial opening. Is the thunder triggering it? Totally ticked off that inside is wet and everything inside is also.
I am at the dealer now ... no trouble found. BUT I had this same problem on 2 BMW's a 2011 3 series and 2013 3 series. In both cases the dealer didn't know how to fix it (even though it was the same dealer in both cases). the problem in both cases turned out to be a defective switch in the driver's side door. On the 2011, the problem happened 3 times before the dealer called the national service line and found out it was the switch. On the 2013, I had the dealer look at the sevice record from the 2011, so that made it easier. I just spoke with the Toyota service manager here and they are calling the region to see if there's a known problem.
I'm having a serious issue with this problem. As I get out of my car,RX 400h I lock doors & roll up windows. Daily all the windows roll down. Is this an electrical issue or a key fob & or fuse ?? When I get back to car , windows are down ( sometime I have bob on me , most other times I dont. I cant afford ( kids in college ) the Lexus dealer right now . Help
My 450h is doing This. My key fob is locked Up and zipped in my purse. I Never take it out. I suspect The battery may need To be changed. Idk if This helps or Not , but I’m starting there.
I have a 2013 RX 450H and this happened for the first time this week. I've been driving 450H's for 15 years and nothing like this has happened before now. I do know that the batteries in my both key fobs are low, so will be taking them in to be replaced. When I called the dealership, the woman I spoke to said she'd never heard of this, but based on this feed and how many years it goes back, it's an issue. Appreciate that it could be helpful (hot day, even car accident and doors blocked) but not helpful when it's below 0 and snowing....
I found this forum because the same thing just happened with my 2008 IS 350. I am pretty sure I asked to have the option set to not have the windows roll down if the unlock button is pressed for 3 seconds. I may take it back to the dealer and have the options checked to make sure that the option is set correctly. The car could be responding to a stray signal that mimics the unlock signal, or it could be an attempt by thieves to break into cars a new way. Either way, having the dealer change the setting so the windows do not roll down should address the problem.
I called Lexus dealer & asked if this window issue can be recalled on my 2008 rx400h . All my windows ften randomly roll down & not the sun roof ! So It's not a fob issue , the mechanic said its a window motor problem , $170/ hour labor rate , yikes . They have gotten a lot of complaints on older Lexus & BMW's having same issue with wind iij was randomly rolling down . So I guess I need to write corporate lexus to get a recall ?? Wtf , why cant Lexus dealer help with that ?
This is a setting, which you can see under “Personalized Settings” in the owners manual. Unfortunately, these settings must be changed by the dealer, Due to the need for specialized equipment. Do it next time you take it in for service.

Ditto. Still new-to-us 2013 RX350, did the trick once while sitting in car, just turned off, and all windows opened and sunroof. Nothing touching the key fob. It was a dry day. Today it occurred during a rainstorm while wife was in a cafe. Again nothing messed with fob, car soaked throughout. Grateful for this thread

Yesterday I took dog to the vet in my backup car Honda CRV. Taking Lexus/house keys with me an a separate lanyard. Came home and noticed all windows on my Lexus RX 300 plus sunroof were open! It was locked. Couldn’t find my keys for house/Lexus. Family decided someone had found my keys and had done this. Convinced me to call the county sheriff. Sheriff was puzzled and interviewed neighbors but told me to keep looking for missing keys. Later found keys under Honda.

I’ve had this happen once in 10 years when I accidentally pressed/held down the unlock button on my keyfab (it was in my pocket & I leaned against a counter, it beeped excessively to let me know something was happening). I was actually excited and assumed this was a safety feature incase the car is ever submerged in water- easy exit feature! I would be VERY SAD if it happened during a rainstorm!
Thanks to all who posted about this issue. You have save me from an expensive trip to Lesus Sevice as the car is out of warranty. The problem happened the first time on our 2015 RX-350 during a hurricane watch. Lots of rain, wind. Went out in the AM and windows were down and moonroof partially open. Inside was soaked. Tried to drive and left turn signal always flashing. Local Toyota dealer said vent tubes from moonroof were clogged, somehow allowing water inside the car and causing electrical problems withe the Connector Block near the driver's left foot. Vent tube was cleared and connector block serviced with conductive grease. Car was dried out at another repair facility. Car has been garage kept since with no further problem until the last two weeks in Atlanta with car parked outside and numerous thunderstorms. Last week after a thunderstorm, walked outside and found all windows again down and moonroof open. As well, lift gate would no longer operate electrically. Have examined the Connector block, seems ok. Cleared the roof vent tubes and confirmed water will flow through and tried to check power to the lift gate but stumped by the cover ? on the 30 AMP Fuse. (Afraid of breaking something). After reading this posts, I focused on the fob. Locked and unlocked the doors with the fob a couple of times then tried the lift gate. Surprised actually, it opened and raised under power
I was cut off and required to register before I could finish the above post. I am convinced an electrical signal from the thunderstorms is triggering the window take down all at one time but at the same time I was able to restore operation of the lift gate via manipulation of the fob. Thanks again everyone.

I have a 2013 RX 350. It has done this many times since I bought it in 2016. It is very annoying! DO NOT BELIEVE it has anything to do with the key fob as it's always left on my dresser overnight, and that is when I typically have this problem. No one touches it during the night, so it can't be the fob! Driving me insane. I am taking it to the dealer in two days, but have no faith in them finding the problem.
06 gx470 same issue all windows down when use the remote to lock the car so i took out the battery on remote and use the key only to lock the car. problem solve no more window down .apparently the fob keep sending signal to car telling it to put all windows down.
Our 2014 rx350 rolls all the windows down and opens the sunroof the moment you turn it off. Every time. Started it a couple days ago. After reading this I tried carrying my other fob, no difference. You can even remove the fob and take it out of range and it will still roll down the windows the moment you turn off the car. I’ve run diagnostics on it and have no errors or faults. Any thoughts?
Ok. 2 new FOBs. Car is still doing this. Apparently this is a HUGE problem with Toyota/Lexus. Ive read literally HUNDREDS of comments on forums with cars automatically rolling down windows without prompting. Nobody apparently has any insight other than to say the ‘owner is activating the function’ which I could believe with some people. But I have removed the FOBs from the car and turned it off, removed batteries, even replaced the FOBs and yet each time you turn the car off the windows and sunroof open.
