The road noise was loud on the Lexus RX 350 on my test drive. Will road noise be quieter on the BMW X5 or the Mercedes ML 350?

That Lexus should be quiet enough to hear the proverbial pin drop. It's a superior car, I mean in general, not superior to the BMW or M/B but just as high in manufacturing quality control. You sure there wasn't a window open just a hair? Either that or you drove the rare one with a weatherstrip folded in, something like that

I have the 2015 RX 350 - it always sounds like there is a window open, it is loud, bounces like hell when driving 70 mph, and the tires are Michelins...I am horrified beyond belief because I DID NOT test drive the car at 70 mph! Too late now...

Two weeks back I test-drove a new 2015 RX 350 out of the dealership. I was disappointed because the road/wind noise in the cabin was the same as or more than my 2011 RAV4. I decided to wait and test-drive the 2016 model before I buy it.

Wished I had the radio off when I road tested this vehicle yesterday and purchased it. Today I drove over to the dealership to ask if someone could test drive again with me to make sure nothing was wrong and he asked what year? I said 2015. He said probably nothing wrong but make appt with service on Monday. Was disappointed that no one would get in the car with me!

I traded my 2004 RX300 for the 2014 RX350 and I have to say it is MUCH louder on the highywAy than my 2004 and my husband's ES 350. It's quite annoying actually and I can't believe this is a step down from the 10 year older model although that was the last car they made in Japan. Maybe that's the difference.

I wish I had read this forum last week. I just bought a 2015 RX350 and thought I was going crazy as my 2001 RX300 is quiter on the highway. Noticed the loud noise and sounds like wind is coming into the cabin. Also, the cool seats are not cool. I am really hoping the seats at least get as hot as my 2001 seats did! wish I went with NX200 or Rav4.

2019 RX 350 same annoying wind noise right behind the driver side. Same on the passenger side. Took the brand new car back to dealer and 3 hours later they told me they didn’t notice anything wrong. Looks like they don’t give a darn once the car leaves the lot.

2019 Lexus RX350 brand new zero mileage. After purchasing it I kept hearing a wind noise behind the drivers side. It sounded like it was coming from the rear passenger side. Sure enough my wife complained about it as well. The noise comes at 10 plus mph. Took it to Lexus and the service manager sat with me to hear the noise. He was trying to act like he couldn’t hear the noise and as my speed reached 40 mph there was no denying the noise. They took the vehicle in the shop for 2 hours and told me there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Shame on Lexus for treating their customers this way. I will never buy a Lexus vehicle again.

I purchased Lexus RX 350 2018 with 4300;miles. I was looking at new and the vehicle just came in as a trade in due to a lady’s husband died so I thought I would save on depreciation and buy it. It is beautiful with every luxury feature, great acceleration and pick up but noisiest car I have ever owned. Everyone that rides in passenger seat asks what’s that noise. After reading about the Issue on the internet and with so many people with same issues why is Lexus the still making the vehicle with no fix. I didn’t even bother to take it in. At this point the noise bothers me so much I may sell it and take my losses. I did not take it out on highway when I test drove and would suggest everyone to do so. You can really hear wind noise and loud grinding with slight vibration especially on passenger side. After calling several Lexus dealer service departments to ask about the issue , they act as if no one complains about it. Live and learn. Not a repeat customer.

Is it the seat cooling fan people were talking about? I actually found ES350 is noisier than RX350 when engine is ramping up.

My noise was driving me crazy. Read the post for AFJ from two years ago. It was exactly correct - the fan under my seat was on. I turned it off and my car returned to it's quiet interior. It was driving me insane. Thank you AFJ - Mine is 2019 Lexus RX 350. Today is 10Aug2022. Car has 20K miles. I never used the fans and that is why is was so perplexing. I must have inadvertently turned them on based on where the controls are.

They make spray-on noise deadening material usually applied in the East where salt is sprayed on the road. It really helps with the cabin noise.
