My car making a loud noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hiii
My Nissan Altima would turn off while I'm driving or
stopped at a light. And Ive always been able to  start it back
up , sometimes it took me a 2-3 tries, but it always turned
back on.. this last time it didnt start, didnt make a noise.
Just my radio turned on.
Everyone is telling me it might be my battery or alternator.
I didn't think it would be battery because my radio still
turns on.
I got my battery checked out today and it was pretty low so
they tried charging it and it ended up being no good.
I bought a used battery and my car started, but it's making
a loud noise. It had already been making a noise, but now
it's even louder. Hard to explain. There is a screach sound
in it, and especially when I turn the wheel. Idk if those are 2
separate issues.
Can you tell me what it sounds like? I can't afford to take in
anywhere yet. But I want to get some kind of idea of what it
might be.

Screeching when turning the steering wheel is probably the power steering pump. I would also check the serpentine belt.

Ok thank you. I still can't describe the other noise, but whatever it is, it feels like my engine or something under there is shaking.

If the check engine light is on have the codes read and post them here. Sounds are really hard to diagnose over the internet.
