Look under the back of it. If it has a rear diff and two axles, AWD! Sometimes they also have a badge on the back.

Um. Perhaps read your vehicle manual?

This vehicle is set up in the classic rear wheel drive configuration, as most SUV's are. Look under the front and see if there is a differential and two axles coming out of it. If so, it is AWD. I don't believe the RX 330 comes any other way, and Lexus doesn't make an SUV without 4wd or AWD.

Hi Alex, what if one does not know how a differential looks like. I will try tomorrow, but just in case. And another thing, is using premium gas absolutely a must. Any insight to it?

Yes I checked underneath and noticed an extra thick rod going back. So when doed it kick in? There is no extra switch to go into AWD mode. Please reply

There will be an extra Rod at the bottom of the car besides the exhaust line to transfer the energy to the rear wheels. If yiou have this then it is AWD

Forth digit of you VIN will tell you. If it's an H, like JTJH, then it's 4x4. Maybe B is 4x4 also. This is as shown below: B - sedan, 4 doors 4x2 B - MPV (including and crossover), 5 doors (Lexus GX) 4x4 C - compartment door 2, 4x2 C - sedan, 4 door, 4x4 (GS430 AWD '2006 / IS350' 2006 / GS460 '2009) D - a sedan with the long wheelbase, 4 doors, 4x4 (LS600hL' 2008) E - wagon, 5 doors, unit 4x2 F - convertible, 2 doors, unit 4x2 G - MPV (including and crossover), 5 doors (4 side hinged rear door) 4x2 G - sedan with a long wheelbase, 4D, 4x2 (LS460hL '2009) H - MPV (including and crossover), 5 doors (4 side hinged rear door) 4x4 Z - MPV (including and crossover), 5 doors, 4x2 (RX350 '2009)
