how to update navagation

Asked by ckelley Mar 22, 2007 at 12:46 PM about the 2005 Lexus GS

Question type: General

I bought a new Lexus (May of 05) with an all ready outdated verison of navigation. I found out that I have a 5.1 version.  I found out from the dealership that a 6.1 version exists and for a mere 500.00 they could install it.  Is this a complicated job or can I just eject the version I have and put in a newer current DVD.

Ckelley, I am racking my brain here trying to figure out why a dealership would charge you $500! All that it is, is a DVD with the maps and software on it. I don't think you have to do anything else and even if you did there would be instructions that come with the dvd. What a scam that is. I'd ask the dealership what the "installation" entails just to see what they say.
