thinking about buying a 92 with 125,000 miles

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have found a 92 sc 300 for a great price. It needs paint (florida faded paint) but seems to have no mechanical issues. It does show normal wear on the interior for its age and miles. My question is, are there "quirks" that these cars have in common?  Are there any things in particular I should look at or check on the car? For example My Range rover is known for problem window regulators and bad dash switches. Anything like this I should take note of and be prepaired for?

I bought my 92 SC300 with 209k now has 250k , leaks and burns a little oil , and other than eec electronic engine control, and drive shaft due to warped brake disks I would recommend one to most. The EEC unit was not my first choice, the symptoms mimicked a fuel pump going bad, so thats something to consider.Take Care.

Window regulators on the SC are brittle, but I think its more of a problem in cold climates. My 98 SC has 150k and the regulators haven't gone yet. The one thing I'll say watch out for is bad hoses. The power-steering hose can crack and leak onto the alternator which will in turn kill your alternator. One of my PS hoses was going bad when I bought my car, but I replaced it immediately and haven't had any other problems since. I'd say as long as there's no rust on the frame (being around saltwater) and it passes normal used car checkpoints, it's probably a solid investment. A well-maintained Lexus should last well over 200k before any major problems (my friend's 92 ES300 is over 300k and still runs great).
