buying a used car

I have been trying to contact the owner of a car that I am very interested in buying and your site will not let me give the owner my phone number so we can arrange a time and place to see the car . now cargur wants me to enter my driver license number online .I do not think it is safe to do so. WHY CANT THE OWNER JUST SIMPLY HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER SO WE CAN SPEAK TO EACH OTHER?
