When shifting gears, hear a clunking sound, 90 Ford Probe 4 cylinder front wheel drive.

Bad wheel bearing or bad cv axle. Have it checked as soon as possible. Either could turn real serious quickly if they completely fail while you are driving.

sounds like a motor mount to me... maybe top front

Ditto on the Motor/Transmission mounts. Change them all if you can.

Thank you for the great answers. My son took car to Transmissions plus and they diagnosed as a transaxle bolt. Motor mounts and transaxle all good. Appreciate the replies. :)
