my car is very hard on gas why?

how would i know? we need more details to answer your question... try changing the air filter, plugs wires etc, basically a complete tune up and see what happens..

You should go in for a complete tune up and see what's wrong or you could go to Pep Boys and shell out a couple bucks for an STP fuel system cleaner, run it through and see if it breaks up any garbage in your engine or gas tank. There's not a whole lot of information on here, so there's not much I can really offer.

I had recently changed my fule filter and so far my Alero has been pretty decent on gas. I've gone from just under 300 kms to a tank to just over 410 or 450 if I drive it gingerly. 60 dollar part and labour is not very expensive. My mechanic charged me a little under 15 bucks. So far I got lucky but you can never really tell with Olsmobiles.
