have you checked for blown fuses? also try swapping your fuel pump relay with one similar like a/c or abs NOT AIRBAG! and if that solves your issue. replace relay

I have tried that also... could it be the alternater? Should I just junk the car... I dont know what's wrong with it. No money either its all bad

no would not be the alternator. does your battery have a good charge? if you have a volt meter place it on the battery 12.5 and up is ok. the higher the better.

i would suggest disconnecting the batter, and cleaning all your grounds. and then reconnect the battery. it will reset your computer at the same time. if that fails i have another suggestion.

does this photo match your fuse block?

Does security light blink after attempt to start (with key still in on position)? If so, wait until security light stops blinking (could be several minutes), turn key off and try to start. My '01 Alero does same thing every now and then.

I have a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero 3400 V6 and everytime I turn the key over to crank it the engine turns over but it wouldn't start but it could be anybody can tell me what's the problem

I change the spark plugs I change the starter change crank sensor it still wouldn't start when I turn the key off what it can be

it's usually the fuel pump. You have to listen carefully to see if the fuel pump has run. The car will start after the fuel pump runs.... problem is why doesn't the fuel pump run each time. It can be 1. the fuel pump relay. 2. a pressure regulator. And that is usually all that it is. If it doesn't crank at all and you are sure your battery is good then it is the security lockout (the security light stays on in this case). The code chip in the key's plastic handle some how has lost its data, or the car forgot the data.... either way it can seem like there is an expensive repair in store. But there is no cost at all in the fix. The Fix 1. Turn the key to the start position (if you are trying to crank the engine, you've gone one too far) and leave the key in that position for exactly 10 min. 2. Turn the key to off for 4 seconds. 3. Now immediately start the car. The code should now be re-programed and you will be fine until a couple of months down the road when the car forgets the code again, then re- do this procedure.

I have a 2000 Alero I tried starter fluid it still won't start it turns over but it won't start could it be the ignition coil

For whoever commented on this fix, turning the key to the start position, but if it tries to crank you've gone to far. That's the same position. To start it you have to crank it. The correct position is to turn the key to the "on" position for 10 minutes. If this is incorrect, please advise.

Anyone know how to bypass the security system that is causing this problem? I am hearing about installing a remote starter or adding a toggle switch in line with a yellow wire in the ignition circuit. ???

Have a 1999 oldsmobile alero replace the starter and battery when turn ignition it only makes a clicking sound what could be my problem

Having trouble with my 02 Alero I changed the module and the ignition control module connector started for a few then stopped running what could it be it just acts like it wants to start trying to turn over but it's not the starter battery or alternator had all that checked and can hear fuel pump running when I turn the car to the on position any help please

My same exact problem. It's very cold though. Sometimes it starts right up, sometimes it doesn't. BUT, the fuel pump won't stop buzzing when I turn the key on. It's supposed to charge, and stop. Maybe water frozen in system? Try some isopropyl in your gas tank, and see how it starts on a warm day?.. idk. I'm frustrated as heck with this car issue.

Change the Ignition switch not the problem battery is charged not the problem check the BCM everything looks good hate this car

I just got mine fixed. Body control module, also known as "brain of the car". It will not let anything work properly as in fuel pumps, injectors, security lock, etc.

I'm having the same issue with my 99 alero. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, battery, Ignition Control Module, spark plugs, ignition coils and boots and still wont run. It cranks but doesnt start.....I'm lost...

I am facing the same problem- crank but won't start on my 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Lengthy story but please bear with me for I have done something foolishly painful... I ran the radio in the car (which has a strong, brand new 6 month old battery) with the engine off for an hour and a half or so, while I was working on it troubleshooting a P0446 Evap circuit- and now it won't start... I was doing a smoke test, listening to music... I also made a bad move during troubleshooting which was crossing 2 wires (and only 2 wires) at the fuel pump before starting the car. With the 2 wires crossed, I ran the car for about 2 or 3 minutes, and turned it off.I said to myself " this car is working the same with or without these wires crossed" so I put the two wires where they were before. The reason for my doubt in the fuel pump wiring is because I wasn't sure if I installed it correctly.. originally during the fuel pump installation 6 months ago, I had to rewire it into a clip that came in the same box with an aftermarket fuel pump for this car. There are two clips on the fuel pump: One clip has about four or six wires and the clip I was focusing on has four wires. the one I was focusing on is the clip that I installed.with BUT- I also went back into the fuel pump in the trunk (which I also installed the aftermarket fuel pump 6 months ago). Now, after running the car with crossed fuel pump wires for a few minutes, shutting off the car then putting them back, then trying to start it again- It will turn and turn but not start. When I turn the key to the on (prime) position, the fuel pump won't buzz, and there are crackling sounds all over the hood that sound like tiny short circuits and possibly a few solenoids working on and off. It will turn but not start. I checked the fuel pump relay fuse and replaced it with a new one from O'Reilly replaced another fuel pump fuse that was a regular mini 15 amp and replaced the two fuses and doubt since they were dirty for both fuel injectors... Did I blow something out did I blow out the ECU?? Thanks in advance Max
