Fuel pump it Fuel problem It's a 93 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

Asked by CutlassCiera77 Sep 10, 2018 at 11:40 PM about the 1995 Oldsmobile Ciera

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In 1st gear my ciera ride rough shaking sputtering
until 2nd and 3rd gear then it rides really good so I
changed plugs, wires, and did an oil change. Well I
got gas the other day and put some  cleaner in it
and that night my CD player and car charger stayed
on all night and battery went dead so I jumped it
off and couldn't get it started. So I got a fuel filter
and replaced that and thinking maybe it ran of gas
( which was impossible I just put 20$ in it) so I
jumped it off still wouldn't start so I was thinking
it's the fuel pump. Plus I don't hear the pump kick
on when I turn the key. Well I decided to spray gas
in the intake and start it and I would know it's the
fuel pump for sure. Well it cranked up so I'm
waiting for it to die then I know it's the fuel pump
but it didn't die!! So what's going on and what
should I do??? 93 Cutlass Ciera 3.3 engine

Change the fuel pump, many times hitting the fuel tank of a stalled car will seat the brushes in the fuel pump enough to run, the sad news is the next time it quits you'll be Fifty miles from home in a drive up with a really pissed off big guy behind you so change the pump now.
