Window buttons

Asked by Charlotte Sep 15, 2016 at 02:02 AM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The button to the driver side window has
popped off, how can I get my window up? I
tried putting the button back on but it's not
helping.

Since the window switch is inside the door along with the window motor, you will need to disassemble the interior door panel and either replace the switch or apply 12v directly to the window motor (or switch contacts) to get it to move the window back to the "up" position.

You should be able to get the switch assembly out of the door without removing the door panel. Once out you can probably reattach the button. If not, switch assemblies should be plentiful and fairly cheap at the auto wreckers. Try not to end up at a dealership with this or it will cost you a fortune.
