what is the fuel pressure reading....also try stepping on the gas pedal while cranking....
I did have the pedal while cranking. and i'm not sure what the fuel pressure is. We were thinking the timing chain broke. I do have 200,000 miles in the car.
I had a similar problem with my '97 3800.The mechanic thought the intake manifold had melted, since they are plastic. When he pulled the valve covers off,he found a broken valve spring.$13.00 for the spring,and$100.00 labour.Cheapest way before you start spending big money.
the timeing chain in theses engines dont break.200,000 on it,has the cat converter ever been changed.at end of fuel rail on passenger you will see a round part with a vac hose pull it off see if fuel comes out,if it does that part is bad.sorry cant think of what it is called at the moment, has a diafram inside it,may be split.if it is bad it wont srart.
i did forget to mention that it's back firing out of the carberator
Very well could be the ignition module as well. they will break down in the heat and when they cool back off tend to start back up.
