what if only the passenger side windows don't work? Yet in the winter sometimes they work. Driver side work fine.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Its a 2003 grand Prix GT sedan. The car has 170,000 miles and I'm interested in buying it.
The sunroof and driver side windows are fine. Is this easy to fix?

Not a fuse since they work in winter so I would suspect the motors have worn out. Since you don't own the car, you probably don't know if they quit working at the same time but I suspect they died independantly. Replacing motors can be difficult and, sorry, I don't know more about your car. Motors are cheap ($25-$50) but labor may be costly.

Could also be the switch. That usually affects the driver's window though because it gets used the most. I was able to very carefully take my switch apart and swap some parts from left switch to fight switch and get it all working again. With passenger windows you should be able to trouble shoot the switches easily since there are two switches that operate those windows, on on that door and one on the driver's door. If its switches, one will work and one won't, if they both don't work then its more likely a wiring issue. It's highly unlikely that two motors on two windows are failing. It's extremely rare for even one to fail. Regardless of what it is, labor to fix these sorts of problems can be significant, and its an old car, so think carefully about buying it, and don't pay too much.

Thank you. The rest of the car is good and I can pick it up for below blue book. I think it may be the wiring also since he said it worked in the winter.Could be a wire is over heating is what I thought. I'l do some more checking.
