what would cause the car to cut out and rpm gauge go to 0 then back up again?

This doesn't happen all the time, just a

fter the car has been running for 30 minutes or so.

The tach goes to zero because the engine "cut out". When ir registers again, it is because the car is running. Are you describing a problem where the engine stops and then re-starts while driving?

What's wrong with a 2008 grand prize when the rpm gauge brop down and car cut of while driving but it starts back up.
