Headlights

Asked by GuruX6PR1 Nov 17, 2018 at 02:39 PM about the 2002 Pontiac Firebird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Firebird. My right side headlight
was not going up. I replaced it with a new
motor.  The light now goes up and down and
the light comes on. The problem is it’s down
when the other one is up.   In the down
position the headlight is out both lights. Turn
the headlights off and the right light comes
up and both lights are off.

Just bumped into this site and saw your question. Am a rank beginner with autos but I remember from my teenage years in the 60's about polarity when using D C current which is what your electrical system is. If you switch the positive and negative wires on a D C motor, it will run in reverse. So try switching polarity on the offending light. Hope it works.
