Sounds like a fuel issue.did you check to see if you have fuel getting to the rail? can you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key?

Fuel pump kicks on. After spraying starting fluid it stays running

Sounds like a faulty fuel pressure regulator diaphragm.

Just pull off the vacuum line if raw gas comes out it's bad.

Ok believe it or not. My problem was a 10 amp a.c. fuse under hood. It sends a pulse or something to the fuel pump. Anyway replaced it last night. The car started right then and right up this morning. It hasn't done that in months. Spent well over 200.00. Trying to fix it and a .25 fuse fixed it. Hope it works for you.

03 Grand am would not start. Was getting fuel and spark. Could not figure it out until I read above about the 10amp A/C fuse. Pulled out the fuse and sure enough it was blown. Went and tried to start it with that fuse out and it fired right up.

Deeks64, Glad it helped you to. It still blows that fuse on mine every couple of months. Still don't know why. I just keep fuses with me at all times. Vi-em hopes it worked for you. If you happen to find out why its popping the fuses please post. Thanks.

Check the a/c fuse under the under the hood. It a 10 amp and it should be number 37. Replace that in your car should start. That's for a 2003 Grand Am with a 3.4 engine.

Thanks! You saved me a TON of troubleshooting time. First step check AC fuse. It was blown so I replaced it. Starts right up. Took a 2~3 hour troubleshooting task down to about 5 minutes.

Thank you , Thank you! 2 days ago my 2002 Grand Am’s air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. Thought it needed a charging. Then today the car turned over, but wouldn’t start. Found this Website thread by googling. Sure enough it was the #37 fuse . Fixed the air conditioner and the car started right up. Saved me $$$, I was going to have it towed.

The ac fuse also powers a leg to the body control module

My Wife's 2003 Grand Am has the same problem of not starting first time of the day. It has good fire and gas pressure. I checked fuse #37 and it was blown. Installed good 10 amp fuse and it started next morning just like it did before this problem occurred. Thanks to the above discussions, I need to troubleshoot the A/C clutch assembly to determine if it needs replacing.

With my grand am it ended up being the anti theft what we did to fix it was make sure all the dormers r closed right roll down the driver side window so u don't lock urself out leave key in the on position (do not try to start it) leave it on for bout 10 min or until security light on top left hand corner of rpm gage stops blinking turn key to off position 5 sec then turn the key to start car should start right up and also take note do not let battery die or ul have to restart process all over but with my grand am would just crank not turn over starting fluid would start it thats what was going on with mine fuses everything was good but it ended up being anti theft

Anti-theft as well. Turn the key to start but don't crank, let the security light blink for 10 minutes. When it goes solid and no longer blinks, turn the key off for 5 seconds then start the car.

I put rear main my PONTIAC GRAND AM AND start it up and shut it off it would not fire back up

Another website said to pull the negative post on the car battery. After a day & a half of trying everything else and lots of worry & ODB2 that didn't find anything wrong, that worked! Reset the clock but not the radio stations! Piece of cake...

I had a tough one on 2002 Pontiac. First: Ignition module was getting 12V from ignition key when in the run position; but, in crank position that 12V comes from a different contact(why??), and that contact was bad, so no 12V when cranking. Jumped 12V directly to module as a diagnostic. Replace ignition switch solved that problem. Second: good signal from Crank Position Sensor, but wires had been burned by exhaust heat and replaced by prior owner; and, those wires were switched. When switched them back, and with the ignition module jump the car started easily and ran perfectly. I used the easyautodiagnostics.com procedure, but it failed me because they have you check the ignition module voltage in the key-run position, not the crank position, and though they show good crank position sensor scope signal, they do not say which lead was connected to the two CPS wires, so it is no help in diagnosing a misconnected CPS.

When the ignition switch was replaced, the car seemed like it wanted to start, but just never did. that problem was the mis-connected Crank position sensor (wires switched)

Well, it’s 2023 and the 10 amp fuse is still the culprit for no start. Thank you to original poster.
