Can someone that is not a mechanic, change the winshield wiper pump in my car?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can you please tell me how hard it is to change a windshield wiper pump on my car?  Is it something that a lay person could do, if they know enough about cars?  In mine, I believe the pump is within or under the resevoir for the fluid, which is under the battery.  Would someone have to go through the wheel well or just remove the battery?  EVERYTHING is just so hard to get at in this car?  Thank you!!!!
