Sticky Throttle

Asked by KN234 Jan 09, 2009 at 09:44 AM about the 2001 Pontiac Sunfire

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My sunfire has had a sticky throttle the last 2 winters.  I can correct it by cleaning it with throttle body cleaner, but that is a pain.  Is there a particular cause to this issue?

Thanks

The best way to clean it is use the throttle body cleaner, but take off the intake ducks and with the engine off, hold open the throttle, use a toothbrush and the throttle body cleaner and clean all around the throttle. once you've done that, remove the throttle cable and spray some silicone spray into the end of it and around the throttle shaft. that usually works the best.
