does a fuel pump in the gas tank, will it work, then quit working then work?

Yes it will,BUT check the wiring for proper ground, and if the filter has not been changed it is a good idea to replace it with a new one that flows alot easier than a dirty one.Electric fuel pumps are famous for bad connections. Also check fuse and relay.
