Idle RPM is 500?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just bought a 2001 subaru legacy b4 2.0L twin turbo. After doing an engine
and trans oil flush/change, the car started to idle at lower RPM than usual. I
did a scan and nothing popped up. I am suspecting an air leak somewhere
but everything seemed to be in place(checked what i could). It does have a
GFB Bov response (installed upside down by previous owner). Thats all i
have, anymore questions please ask as i need help to what might cause it.

That doesn't sound excessively low. An air leak (vacuum leak) would increase the idle speed. Unless the check engine light or service engine soon light comes on and everything else is ok I'd consider it normal. Hope that helps. Jim
Thanks for the reply Jim. The thing is as soon as you let go of the throttle the Rpm drops to below 1000 and even drops faster when braking. Not sure if this still sounds normal?
Normal idle should be around 750 rpm.

I also have the same problem same car. It’ll sit around 1k for a bit then drop to 500 then slowly rev up and down at idle and eventually the car dies. I noticed it’s worse with less gas in the tank but still happens when it’s full.
