2001 subaru legacy and trying to fit a chip to the maf sensor

hi can any1 help ...i have a 2001 subaru legacy and trying to fit a chip to the maf sensor but do u think i can find the maf sensor no???ive taken all the air induction off including the air filter box and still no maf sensor any help with diagram or drawing of where its located would be great....thanks

sorry there no name of the chip it got 2 wires 1 red & black the other is black....ive taken all original air piping of and air box theres no maf to be found any where im puzzled..im replacing the original system with 3 inch hose and 3 inch k&n cone filter..any help would be appreiciated :-)

I hope it's not an SLR chip, I had a similar one and it fried my sensor, made the car slower and dropped fuel economy. IDK if I would trust it but if you wanna try it I'll see what I can find.

ok thanks for your advice have you any idea where it could be located the maf sensor i mean if its not on any of the air system or does it have an iat sensor?

I am fairly sure that Model year 2000+ Subaru Legacy cars abandoned the Whole Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) technology and instead started using Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP). I could be mistaken on this though.

I am not familiar with UK Subaru cars. My guess is that these car were built in Japan and closely follow JDM car technology. Based on what I know of US MAF implementation the MAF sensor would be installed in the air intake between the air filter and the black plastic intake lair intake pipe that is roughly 3-4 inches in diameter. I am not at all sure if UK cars utilize MAP or MAF sensor technology.
