2000 Subaru Forester won't start

This car has been pretty much parked for the past 2 years, and only started
occasionaly (about once a month). Put fresh gas in it, and It turns over fast
enough to start, but won't start. I tried a bit of starting fluid, and it started
momentarily, and then died. I've noticed that the tachometer doesn't register
anything at all while cranking. Any ideas?

Try replacing the fuel filter. You may have to drain the entire fuel system though. Try and listen to see if the fuel pump is running. It will sound like a faint hum at the fuel tank. The tach thing is normal.
