While driving car one day, it just shut down. It had to be towed. The next day it was fine. Some one told me it might have to do with the cam sensor

Mine was the crank shaft position sensor when mine shut off on me and was fine later then it'd do it again.

I recently bought a 2004 Suzuki Aerio 4 door hatchback and my dash lights/speedometer is out. Ive checked fuses. My friend told me that the guy she bought it from did something under the hood and they came back on, any ideas on what he may had done? At this point I've rigged a small headlamp light to shine on it and velcro to hold it down and its working fine but I really would like to see if it can be fixed without me having to go to a mechanic and spend and arm and a leg for something that may be a simple fix
