Your compressor may be seized causing excessive friction in the belt.

It also could be that the belt tensioner itself is bad. I would check the belt that drives the A/C unit, the Alternator, etc before jumping to the compressor which is a huge expense. Did you happen to notice if the air was cold when the A/C was in operation? Are you able to tell me where in the engine compartment the smoke seems to be emanating from? I will monitor your post for any answers that might help me best diagnose your issue. Best of luck!
Thanks for answer. The belt was changed recently. And the smoke comes from under power steering pump, belt is around the same area. Had a small leek on power steering hose so we fix that and clean up the hole area. Though it could be power steering fluid.
I just noticed the antifreeze was low. Could that be a internal leek?
