Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can't find the oil filter on my 2001 4Runner with 3.4 liter V6.  I looked all over!  I read someplace to look in the passenger side wheel well, but didn't see it there either.  Can you help?  Thanks!

I have heard the same thing about the filter being accessible through the wheel well. I would recommend getting your hands on a Chilton or Haynes manual. It will show the exact location of the oil filter and how to change it (if you haven't already done so)

I found my oil filter. I took off the two skid plates under the engine, and there it was, hidden by the rear skid plate. What a nuisance, just to change the oil!

It is hard to find. Turn your steering wheel all the way to the left and look behind the front left tire. There's a thin rubber shield held in place with plastic fasteners. Carefully remove the fasteners and flip the rubber piece out of the way and you'll see the oil filter on the left side of the engine. It's just above the chassis frame.
