Engine swap

Asked by GuruLB1FF Apr 04, 2019 at 09:38 AM about the 1985 Chevrolet Camaro

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 85 Camaro and would like to know if a 2001
Chevy Silverado engine would fit and mount up. Even with a
little customization and fabrication? Is it possible?

That era Camaro could be had with a 305 or 350, so mounts are available for that engine, making engine swaps somewhat accommodating, but under hood room is limited, if you own one you know how tight it can get. a 4.3 or 4.6, sure, a 5.3 might be tight, a 6.0, good luck. for the 6.0 truck motor you might be cutting away some of the inner fender wall or fire wall. Try checking on any number of Chevy performance sites, hot rodders have swapped just about anything and everything into a mid 80s Camaro.
