was all SS's a 138 code?

Question type: General
I have a 69 that came completely torn apart when I got it. I was told it was an SS which I believed because it had all the tell tale signs, the black stripe in the back, 12 bolt rear end, bucket seats and console, SS trim for inside. Got a manual and it says all SS's were 138 vin and the car has a 136vin? If sombody cloned it they wen to a lot of trouble to make it look good and then let it go to pot. I have heard both stories that some SS's had a 136 code in 69?

vin 13637 means v8 car in 1969 all v8 vin started 136 i believe the 138 are ss but not in 1969 thats why there more ss out there than gm made ch
136 is a good # if theres a paint code 72 or 73...
Thanks, now I am sure it is an SS. Thanks so much!

You are all looking at 1969 hoping it's like the 1968? IT AIN'T! 69 went to an SS Package NOT, in the VIN! 1968 had 138 as SS in VIN but, 69 went to an SS PKG and 136 or 138 VIN has nothing or to do with the flavor SS or NOT!
NOPE OOPS ON YOU!!!! 138 has EVERYTHING TO DO WITH BEING AND SS OR NOT.
Don't kid yourself and don't let somebody else blow smoke in your face about that.
THIS IS TRUE THRU THE 1968 MODEL YEARS FOR SURE. AFTER THAT IT DOESN'T MATER. THEY GOT BUTT UGLY AND HEAVY AS HELL AFTER THAT ANYWAY
