Question type: General
I have a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a 454.
Having trouble , car keeps dying when I don't have
my foot on the gas. It'll die when I come to a
complete stop. My buddy was thinking carb or fuel
pump. But not really shure. Any help will help ,
thanks.

You mean 455, lol. Unless someone stuck a Chevy motor in there. You can get a fuel pump pressure tester, that will confirm or deny that as a problem source. I think you would be better off focusing on the intake system however, make sure all your vacuum lines are intact (Olds' engines have a lot of those), EGR, idle air control valve, carb float, etc.
If checking vacuum lines does not solve the problem you might want to check simple things before doing any carb work. Things like timing, point gap, cross firing due to old spark plug wires, spark plug gaps, etc. If tune up things like this are not the source either, then I would begin looking for carb problems. By the way, '70 Cutlass with a 455 - nice thing to have!
