Asked by Samuel May 28, 2016 at 05:50 PM about the 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1971 Chevelle has been parked 1 1/2 yrs.
running previously.  Replaced spark plugs,
poured 5 gals of gas with high octane
booster,  new battery , oil looks clean, fuel
pump getting gas to carb. ( removed fuel
line from fuel pump and gas drained from
port ) .  Engine turns but will not start.  Is

A module or coil ?

Is the gas tank clean? If you have taken care of the fuel system, then it must be ignition- a car that old must be completely rebuilt-

check that you are getting spark! Start with the coil and work your way back. Do you have the point distributor, may want to upgrade it to an HEI. If no spark, check you have 12v to hot wire of dist when key is in run/crank position.
