i had an 1979 LT1 groing up. why can't i find any for sale anymore?

not looking in the right place it takes a long time to find cars like that in good condition check Creigslist or Hemmings motors. Use hemmings only if your willing you pay there cars are very nice

do u mean LT1 as a 350 motor or LT as the trim of camaro for 79? anywho definitly go to craigslist.com or ebay. and im pretty sure u meant LT camaro cos LT1 is the name of the aluminum block 350 used in 94-97 .

FYI Chevrolet introduced an all aluminum 350 small block in the 70's badged LT1, very rare. The LT1 used in 94-97 was still a cast block, not aluminum.

There was never a LT1 badged motor in the 70's? The 350 CI motor in the 70's was the L86, the same motor that the Corvette ran, with a differnet bore and storke. Basically, a detuned version. The LT1 was introduced in 1992 in the Corvette, and was rated at 300 HP

Thats right! 93-97 were cast iron, 98 was when the aluminum junk came out. also i totally forgot that they did make a 70s 350 lt1 block in the camaros, but are u sure it was around in 79 not discontinued in 75 after all that emissions crap came into play?
