My 1982 Mustang has cracked roof pillars. Can they be fixed and if so how much do you think it would cost?

If the cracks are small enough they can probably be welded. The cost would depend on the auto repair shop. The roof pillars are part of the main frame of the car so it could be dangerous if the cracks are too large. Here is an article you can read about roof pillars and safety: http://www.crash-worthiness.com/html/roof.html

Your best bet is to go see a body shop and get an estimate . try contacting a local Mustang club and see who they recomend for bodywork . make sure you get more then one estimate so you have a good idea what the average price is , some body shops can "lowball" you and then as soon as they have your car , they will call with " disturbing news" that the problem is worse then they thought . Try to get a written estimate and ask about any warranty on the work .
