Did the 1986 Mustang LX, 2.3L come with an 8.8" rear end?

The 5.0L V8 came with a 8.8" rear end. You probably have a 7.5" rear. You can measure the ring gear or check the tag on the rear axle. http://www.all-parts.com/diagnostics/mechanics/Ford-Mustang.html
