In 1988 how many t-tops were sold or produced?
I have heard there were between 281-551 made. I'm not sure of the exact number. If anyone knows for sure I would glad to know.I have recently started to restore mine, and cannot find t-top parts.thank you for any help you can give.

I thought T-tops were last made in 1987 !! You might have a late '87 , or the car is really an '87 . Ford had allot of problems with th T-tops , and so decided to discontinue them after 1987 . Noise , leaking , and premature wear of weather stripping ( falling apart and riping ) were some of the problems attributed to T-tops .

actually the last t top was made in 89 1 was special made for someone
I have an 88 GT with T-Tops Mfg. Date of Nov.87 and I wrote to FOMOCO. 3 yrs. Ago and they informed me that there were 3200 made in 1987 and in fact IS the last yr. They were manufactured in the mustang. The title lists it as an 88 because of the date of Mfg. BTW, It has 136,456 actual miles on it.
1987 was the last year -I got one of the last ones. I picked the car up in September when the '88's were already out. I would have gotten an '88 but they weren't being offered with T-Tops.
I ordered an 88 with T-tops in July 87. Was built early September and I took delivery on October 21, 1987, the Wednesday after Black Monday. It has about 139,000 actual miles on it. Almost totally stock. The only change was adding a 140 MPH speedometer at 23K.
I have a 88 gt t top car in the second owner of it and it has some funny mirrors on it
it has funny mirrors on it because at the end of the year they ran out of doors so they put the convertible doors on it i have2- 88 t-top 5.0 sticks.one with convertible side mirrors on it because that's all they had at the end of the year I've only seen four my whole life and I have two of them my friend had another one..and a88 convertible 5 speed 5.0.and a 87 5 speed with 50,000 miles original moon roof blew offthe moon roof blew off need to fix that
I have one with the flag style mirrors, with 14,432 original miles. It was built on 11-10-1987, but the title is an 88 model. My Marti Report says that for the 1988 Mustang GT 2-door Hatchback, there were 3,747 built with the T-Roof. Bubba
I just bought a two tone red and grey 88 T-top with the convertible doors and funny looking flag mirrors the passenger side door needs the skin replaced

My dad bought this T-top mustang new in 1988. He put it in a garage for all most 15 years. It only has 55,000 miles in it. My son and I are having it painted and replacing the trims. The interior is perfect.
I owned a new 1988 t top cobra . It was stolen when mustangs were the number one car of car theives back in the day. Still pissed off!
93 was the only year foxbody made the cobra
Canada GTs were sold and titled as Cobras, some made the trip back to the US as used cars and still got titled as GT Cobra, but yes 93 was the only official Cobra

I have a 1988 Canadian Gt Cobra t-top model in white with red stripe and the flag mirror doors. I was told that there were 212 made with flag mirrors as parts were depleted at the end of production in 1987 into beginning of 1988. It seems like Ford didn't keep proper records. I've only seen 3 advertised for sale in Ontario Canada with the sail mirrors, I never had the opportunity to see one in real life with flag mirrors other than mine. if anyone has information on the true production, I would truly appreciate it.....
? Your kidding. LMR.Com
I also have a titled 1988 Gt 5.0 5 speed T-top car with door tag October 87
88's with Ttops were actually ordered in 87. They got the 88 Title only because they were carry-overs from when they were ordered in 88. I "guess" you say your 88 is rarer than an 87 Ttop, because your title is an 88, but in all fairness, it was an option on the 87 Mustang. I have "heard" there is an 89 Ttop out there, but haven't seen any concrete evidence. If anyone knows of where that is, please feel free to point me in the right direction. Mine is an 87, that was manufactured in 12/1986
Bought a new 88' from Mineola (NY) Ford with t-top option, Fought like hell to get the car as ordered -- took 4 months to deliver. Final assembly of t-tops was done in Titaboro, NJ plant. Delivered late in 87' if I recall. Color was regatta, blue metallic. Sold the car in 1993 with about 20K miles. It was cherry!
Yeah well I have a 1988 lx 5.0 with t tops and the mardi report listed it as 1of 1 thats right a unicorn . you can contact me on jdmechmaster@gmail.com
I just bought an 88 mustang gt with t-tops, its an actual 87 mustang with 15,700 original miles. Still has the original tires
Looking to buy a t top gt if anyone is selling cash ready. Must be a 5 speed, looking for original condition. Will Travel for the right car. Tyluket@yahoo.com
Bought a blue/gray 88 T-top in Jan 1988 in Virginia.Never seen one since and kick myself every day for not keeping it. Some say they never existed...
I bought a new Black 88 GT with t-tops from Rochester Ford in Michigan in Sept 1987. Had a lot of issues with leaking water, wind noise, and chassis flex. Sold it in 91 with about 93k miles on it. Too bad I sold it, it had lowered the car with Kaufmann springs, adj konis, rear disc brakes, and silver 16 in 3 piece BBS RS wheels. Didn't get much for it.

There were just over 4600 Mustangs with the T-roof option made in the 1988 model year. They were not "left over" 87s..that's not how production works. The T-roof option was discontinued in Oct 87, over two months after the 87 model year ended and the 88 model year started. Nobody knows how many had 'convertible' mirrors. That was a running change after the 88 model year started, for convertible and T-roof doors. 'SVT' Cobra was 93+ but "Cobra" option was 1979-81 (almost 25,000 total made) and all 1984-92 GT in Canada were "Cobra GT".
I'm the original owner of A88GT with T tops and terriers taken apart but it's almost all stop I can be reached at. 2407976796 calling from the Maryland DC area. I've had the car since eighty seven november
My cousin purchased a new Black LX 5.0 in 1988 and it was an 88 not an 87. It was a T- Top car.. He traded it in on a 90 Maxima ( I know, right ) Last time i seen that car was Ooltewah TN in 1993. I bought a 1971 Grabber Blue Mach 1 from a guy that opened his garage to show me why he was selling it and there was Scotty's 88 LX.5.0.. He just had the car resprayed black and was needing money for an engine build.. He went on to tell me how rare it was to be an 88 with T-Tops, and I said yeah I know this is my cousins old car.. Lol. So I know of 1 1988 LX 5.0 w/ T-Tops that sold new in Chattanooga TN

Somebody mentioned to before, but there are no 87 T-top cars disguised as 88s. 88 production, like every other year car, started in Fall the year before. So there is a specific amount of 87s with T-tops and a specific amount of 88s.
