my truck also shakes violently while applying brakes

A warped rotor would cause shaking when brakes are applied. It's a common problem, they're affected by wear, corrosion, and heat. You can remove them and have them turned down and resurfaced on a brake lathe (although not many places do this anymore) or just replace them along with brake pads.
Common problem with trucks, especially if used as a truck carrying a load or towing. Warped my rotors on my 2010 f-150 at about six months of age. Hot brakes during a rainstorm and could not avoid a puddle. Instantaneous. Suggestion. Do not purchase cheap rotors. High carbon steel content works best.
