That's kind of weird but you may have to reset the radio. Check owner manual or ask dealer how to reset. I do know that a lot of radios go into anti-theft mode if power is lost and you have to enter a code so it will turn on again. Haven't heard of being stuck on AM but look for a way to reset, or radio possibly went bad at same time cables were replaced?
