What does it mean when you put your car in reverse and the rpm's raise to like 2000 and then when i go to give it gas it takes a minute for it to get up to speed?

its a 2006 ford escape hybrid half electric and half gas.

I have had 3 codes come up and it all had to do with the battery and power
train. I have looked all over for information on what  it could be and i cant
find any answers on what could be wrong with my car and how to fix it. Can
someone please help me?
