Engine hot a/c off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
On the dash my car said “ engine hot, a/c off”. It
automatically shuts the ac off and my temp gauge won’t
move from C. I pulled over, all my fluids were fine and the
engine actually seemed cold not over heated. I was
reading it’s usually a sensor or bad thermostat, but I’m not
sure, if that’s what it is how much does that cost to fix?

What's the answer? Mines doing exact same thing.
Mine is doing the same
WELL, It Can Be 1 Of 2 Things Or Both, A "Stuck Open" T-Stat Or A Bad "Temp Sensor" That Controls The Cooling Fans, & A/C Operation, I'm Not Driving It Unless I Have To until I Can Afford To Get it Fixed, its Hard On The Battery In COLD Weather Where I Live, I'm Disabled, So It Will Be Awhile Till I Can Afford It, I Am A Retired Toyota Master Tech, BUT There Is A HUGE Difference Between GM & Toyota, Toyota's Are SO much Easier To Work On, My SUGGESTION is Find A Mechanic You Can Trust, Stay Away From "Auto - Zone" And Their Ob2 Whatever.... Not Gonna Help, Dealer Is Gonna Be DOUBLE The Cost, I Know I worked For Dealers!!!! Ask Around Where You Live, Or "Google" "Car Repair" In Your Town, If You Aren't Able To Do it yourself, I Have To Have It Done Because Of The Disability & It's Only 4 Degrees & Not Supposed To Get Above 10 All Week, Good Luck & I Hope You Get Yours Fixed Soon, Cause Mine Will Be Awhile........
