Chev Silverado 1500 service charging system light

My truck in idle or even when it's running while parked for
a few minutes, the service charging system light pops up.
It's been doing this for a few years now but recently it's
been getting more frequently. I've had my computer
checked and nothing to do with the battery or the
alternator. I'm lost and suggestions would be great.

Look for a good motor to chassis ground and check any other grounds/wiring for obvious problems

Even back in 2006 the charging system was computer controlled, now it could just be an alternator dying but you need to make sure so your not just throwing parts on it hoping to fix it. Find a good shop in your area that can check these systems and not just a parts store that only has minimal testing capability.
