My battery light came on when i started my 07 chevy silverado 1500. Also there is a message saying service battery charging system that is on?

Your battery is not accepting a charge. Either your alternator has failed, your battery is bad, worn out,--- if it is 5 -6 years old that is the life-span of a battery. Or the cables are corroded where they attach to battery, if there is a green or white "mold' looking substance on the cable ends they need to be cleaned. Baking soda and water will get rid of corrosion if that is the case
