So a hose fell off and the axle broke? What hose? Coolant? Exhaust pipe? A CV axle can break at the joint if the boot was ripped and the grease was gone and dirt got inside the joint. You would have heard noises for some time if that were to happen. Have the car towed to a garage to inspect the vehicle for the damage and offer a repair.
