Reliability of 88-98 Chevy 1/2ton pickups

Asked by agodlycanuck Dec 09, 2013 at 04:26 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking for a reliable 1/2 pickup truck... I am hoping for a Extended Cab short box 4x4...My options seem to be 88-98 Silverado/Sierra or F150 as the dodges fuel economy is adysmal. so i have heard all about Ford Reliability as my family was strictly Ford people. But what are these Silverados like? The first chevy i ever owned was a 2000 Blazer.... and two days after i insured it the engine seized (bad lukc ill assume)But yeah, how many kilometers would the Chevy's go? What are signs of failing transmissions? Just basically... What are signs of these trucks going to hell...It would be greatly appreciated :3
