1998 Chevrolet S10 Pickup Jerry Rigged

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hi! I bought a 98 chevy truck from an individual and started
smelling strong gas whenever I drove it...I recently took it to
a mechanic and he never found the problem but when I
started to look around I discovered that the seller jerry
rigged the truck because of the screw that I found. I don't
know if this place will allow me to show multiple photos but
I will add the photo where I discovered the gas leak.... Can
anyone tell me what part this is called? The gold/copper
area.

Here is an additional photo to show the screw where he rigged it.
It LOOKs like a cold start valve on the injection fuel rail. Apparently they had sealed a loose vacuum line with a screw. It may be running in full loop mode due to that fix (as if it never warmed up) with tons of excess fuel being pumped in.
btw My name is Jerry. That is what they call 'jury rigged'. ^^ cheers.

Lol!!! So sorry Jerry and thanks for the correction. I appreciate your input...if your assumption is correct do you know how much it would be to get it fixed it?

I looked up a variety of fuel system parts for your truck and it looks like a fuel pressure regulator. Go to a parts store and check it out. If that's right, buy one, install it and the leak may stop.
Shoptime on something like that could run well over an hour. Surely, more than the part would cost.
