I would check that the fuel pump is operating. You should be able to hear the pump pre- start when the key is first turned on. If you can hear it I would be thinking fuel pressure regulator. Run the codes..

I looked at info for 5.0L engine. Note the diagram for fuel pump. Does the fuel pump run? You see the fuses, check those. You see the fuel pump oil pressure switch, it is wired in parallel with fuel pump relay. If that switch is functional and has voltage, when crank to bring up oil pressure a little, that switch closes and sends voltage to fuel pump, regardless of relay. At the fuel pump, gray wire is voltage and black is ground, you need voltage and ground. See the fuel injectors in diagram, top wire is voltage and bottom wire is ground. The computer grounds the fuel injectors in order to operate, voltage and ground. The fuel pressure spec for throttle body fuel injection is 9--13 psi. Another thought, if computer doesn't see rpm signal, it won't ground the fuel injectors. Is there a purple wire with white tracer coming from distributor, if so, that carries the rpm signal, engine cranking, dc pulse. If nothing there, pcm won't ground fuel injectors. Then you might have to suspect ignition module? Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.
