Fly wheel

Asked by Andrewws02 Jan 27, 2017 at 01:57 AM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: General

My buddy has a 95 silverado... That when u
try to start making grinding crunching noise
that sounds like. Some type of gears are
fully connecting/ slipping.. Was just told by a
friend it cud possibly be fly wheel isnt lined
up correctly or along those lined.. Sooo with
that being said. The same friend that
suggested fly wheel has a 89 silverado that
engine just went out. And maybe parting it
out if he can't find decent engine.. My
question is will flywheel from 89 work on the
95.????  Any advice or oppinions would be
appreciated!

Yes the flywheels are the same, but I'm sure that is not the problem. More than likely it is going to be in the clutch master cylinder not pushing the throw out bearing far enough to disengage the clutch. You should be able to tell just by pushing on the clutch, you should feel some resistance right away on the clutch pedal. If the noise you describe (I think it is from the trany gears grinding when you try to shift)...is happening when you press down on the clutch only, then you have a throw out bearing and pressure plate problem.
